Wild Catnap

A welcoming bedroom with a slightly dark and wild side.

In my own home, my bedroom is largely ignored. It feels low priority since I mostly just sleep there and people outside my family don’t often see it. Or maybe I only sleep there because it’s so neglected. I love the idea of designing a personal sanctuary though. Very much not ready to go for it in real life but I liked this initial exploration.

I started this room with the quilt and I quickly learned drawing a pattern onto a bed shape is super hard. I liked the quilt enough to power through though. Sleep is one of my favorite things, and I believe in not skimping on anything that can improve sleep. The soft texture and colors with the botanical pattern bring both the form and the function. I matched the light blue of the quilt to the adorable table lamps.

From there, I tackled the walls. I knew I wanted some darkness in the room for the sleepy vibes, and I’ve been loving the color drenching trend I’ve been seeing all over the place. So I went for a deep, dark purple (Purple Valley) on the walls with a lighter grayish purple (Ash Violet) for the trim and ceiling, and added a pinkish shade of purple on the velvety curtains to brighten things up a bit.

Finally, I wanted a bold accent color (which I found in the nightstand) and a more playful piece (which I found in the cheetah rug). Could not resist a cat pun for the name.
